Manoj Joshi to play Chankaya today for a cause

While many might refrain from playing similar characters, actor Manoj Joshi has been playing ‘Chanakya’, since 1990 in a play. He also played Chanakya in the TV show 'Chkaravartin Ashoka Samrat'. And today the actor will perform for the 996th show of the play 'Chanakya'. He says, “I have no qualms about playing the character again because of his role in bringing the country together.The historical character propagated unity, and by enacting the role so many times, I would be able to spread the same message to the audience.”
Meanwhile, in the play today, artiste Vasudeo Kamath who painted the play onto his canvas during the 951st show, will auction it today and the proceeds will go to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the families of URI attack victims.
