NOIDA: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to construct extra-long foot over bridges (FOB) and ramps across seven of its 21 stations on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor in order to provide seamless connectivity through the paid area for the convenience of the commuters. Two FOBs falling in Greater Noida area have got the nod from the Greater Noida Authority on Saturday.
According to DMRC officials, these two FOBs will be located at the Pari Chowk and Knowledge Park Metro stations along the 29.7 km Noida-Greater Noida Metro corridor.
“The aim is to have better integration with the Metro corridor from both sides of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway,” said Deepak Agarwal, Chief Executive Officer, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).
DMRC officials said that the FOBs have been approved on a proposal initiated by the Managing Director of Noida Metro Rail Corporation, Santosh Yadav. The length of the FOBs and ramps will be about 100 meters in length and about 6 meters wide. “A total of seven stations, five of which will be located along the Noida-Greater Noida e-way, will also have these extra-long FOBs,” said a DMRC official. “The aim is to keep pedestrian safety high on our agenda besides providing easy accessibility to our commuters via the FOBs and skywalks,” he added.
The FOBs have been designed keeping in mind the convenience of the commuters, DMRC officials said. They will have ramps, lifts and escalators on both sides and the connectivity will be from concourse to concourse. They will also be equipped with solar panels on the roof of the FOB.
NMRC will lease out spaces on the FOB and the advertising rights to agencies to generate revenue for the company. The NMRC Board had earlier this month also finalized a policy for providing connectivity through skywalks and foot over bridges at Metro stations. Property owners who want to obtain direct connectivity to stations via FOBs and skywalks will have to pay a one-time amount upfront. The design for advertisements and spaces which will be leased will be approved by a proposal evaluation committee before being implemented, officials said.
