Jeff, Floyd Central, Silver Creek, New Albany win sectional titles

Regional play between the four begins Tuesday

Jeffersonville tennis won its 11th consecutive sectional title Friday night by way of a 3-2 win over Providence at Mark Reilly Tennis Center.

The 19th-ranked Red Devils (9-3) move on to a regional matchup with host No. 11 Floyd Central — a winner in its sectional — Tuesday at 5 p.m. The winner of that match takes on the winner between sectional champs Silver Creek and No. 30 New Albany Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the regional title game.

Bradley Cross handled No. 22 Providence’s Nick Boesing in No. 1 Singles on Friday 6-2, 7-5 for Jeffersonville. Ben Arnson of Providence beat Jeffersonville’s Blake Winchell, and the Red Devils’ Keith Asplund defeated Carson Carrico in No. 3 Singles. In doubles play, Jerid Inman and Trey Bottorff of Jeffersonville beat the Pioneers’ Zach Rowe and James Solis, and Providence’s Adam Starr and Aaron Agtuca topped the Red Devils’ Gerrin Moore and Colby Kayrouz at No. 2.

The Highlanders blanked Crawford County and North Harrison on Friday, clinching their 30th straight sectional title and remaining unbeaten on the year ahead of the regional matchup with Jeffersonville. Floyd Central lost just one game to Crawford Co. on Friday in Chris Boone’s 6-0, 6-1 defeat at No. 1 Singles.

Against North Harrison, Boone won 6-1, 6-1, Joe Naville won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 Singles, and Kyle Poe came out on top 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 Singles. Reed Plunkett and Noah Neuhauser (6-0, 6-1) and Alex Poe and Connor Mason (6-1, 6-1) each won in doubles.

Silver Creek also claimed its 27th straight sectional via a win over Borden to set up the regional matchup with New Albany, a 5-0 winner over Corydon in its final. The Bulldogs won their 15th straight sectional. Logan Charbonneau won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 Singles, while Nolan Keeler won 6-1, 6-0. Thomas Ogden tallied a 6-2, 6-3 win to round out singles play. Nathan Johnson and Rohan Reddy tackled No. 1 Doubles 6-0, 6-0 as Ryan Robison and Logan Conrad won No. 2 Doubles 6-0, 6-0.
