RAJKOT: A clerk with the state-run Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), was nabbed red-handed taking a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a ferry boat owner near the GMB's office in Okha on Friday by the Rajkot divison of anti-corruption bureau (ACB).
The accused identified as Jagdish Dayani (46), posted at Okha office of GMB, had demanded Rs 200 per trip between Okha and Bet Dwarka from boat owner Razak Abdul Chauhan, who had done 10 trips the previous day.

According to ACB inspector H P Joshi, Dayani used to collect Rs 200 per trip from boat owners as bribe. "There are nearly 160 boats ferrying passengers between Okha and Bet Dwarka. And the accused used to collect money from all the boat owners," Joshi said.
However, Chauhan lodged a complaint with ACB on Thursday, based on which the ACB laid down a trap and arrested Dayani red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 2,000 near GMB's Okha office. Dayani has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
