House panel seeks casino regulations bill

Kathmandu, Sept 30

The Social Justice and Human Rights Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today directed the government to bring the enterprisers of Nepal Recreation Centre (NRC) under the ambit of law. NRC was accused of not paying taxes to the government and not providing salaries to the workers.

The committee meeting today directed the government to issue a red corner notice and arrest Shanti Chadda, Rakesh Wadhwa, Shalini Wadhwa and Tularam Bhatta, among other enterprisers of the centre.

Similarly, the meeting has directed the Ministries of Home Affairs, Culture and Tourism to inform the committee regarding the progress in this connection within a month.

The committee has further directed the concerned bodies to collect the tax from NRC and to provide salaries to the workers.

The committee has directed the government to present the bill regarding casino management, as such laws have not been enforced so far.
