This summary provides an overview of the document in 3 sentences:
The document discusses a sermon given at Faith Moravian Church focusing on hope found in Christ's resurrection. It encourages the congregation as they face challenges by reminding them of God's faithfulness in the past. Looking to the future, the congregation can have hope knowing that God remains trustworthy and generous even when they don't know how or when, because God will never fail them.
1. âI will sing to the Lord because He
has dealt bountifully with
me.â Psalm 13: 6 is the congrega-
tionâs watchword for the year. It is
the conclusion of a rather short
Psalm in which David laments
Godâs delayed action in coming to
his deliverance. How long, O Lord?
He pleads with God to move but
somehow God does not seem to be
moving fast enough for Him. He
however pleads his case before God
and concludes the Psalm with a note
of certainty, a statement of hope,
based on his trust in God.
We have just concluded our Holy
Week and Easter readings. It was an
emotional week for us, and will al-
ways be regardless of how often we
read and re-read it. Many moods are
awakened in us, amazement, heart-
ache, anger, and joy are but a few. In
the end however, we celebrate with
joy the resurrection of our Lord and
the assurance we have that He is
alive. The readings caused Godâs
saving work of redemption through
Christ to come alive for us once
more. It is always worth it to be re-
minded in the midst of all that is
happening to us and around us, that
God has been kind to us thus we can
be assured of his gracious provi-
dence at all times. This is Davidâs
experience in Psalm 13. He knows
he is not at his best but he also rec-
ognizes that God is always at His
best and that is enough to give him
hope, to keep him trusting and singing.
The living Savior is a source of hope
that is alive in us always.
As we look forward therefore, we do so
with many challenges facing us as a
congregation. We have many plans
(missions/goals) that we have to be di-
vesting or putting on hold due to finan-
cial constraints. We see much what
needs to be done and wonder âwho,
when and howâ. At the same time, we
look back and are encouraged by Godâs
faithfulness to us thus far. Like David
we can take hope in the future because
God remains trustworthy and has never
been anything but generous in His deal-
ings with us. Like the women at the
grave that resurrection morn, and the
other disciples who saw Jesus before
His ascension, we can live in hope of
Godâs benevolent actions towards us.
We celebrate with songs of joy for God
remains faithful to His people. We may
not know how but we know who and
we may not know when but we certain-
ly know âHe will never fail usâŚâ. Let us
therefore continue to celebrate our risen
Savior who gives us hope and the prom-
ise of a bright tomorrow.
Till next time, be blessed!

Evangelism Update
The Evangelism Committee endeavors to reach as many
persons both within and outside the bounds of our church
with the word of God. Last year the Committee, along with
Rev. White, was able to realize a certain level of success in
the week-long activities of the Annual Revival Services and
Community Health Fair. This success came even amidst
inclement weather at the time. This year we are praying for
Godâs blessings on the following programs: Community
Health and Revival Services; Evangelism Workshop; Nurs-
ing Home Visitations; (tentatively) start-up of a zumba class;
Congregation Shred Day( here at the church) , and a neigh-
borhood outreach through distribution of flyers.
We look forward to the Congregationâs participation and
support in these programs and hope that evangelism will
become a little friendlier term in our spiritual and everyday
experience! Thank you and God bless!

This yearâs activity started off with
feeding of the homeless, distribution of
winter clothes in the downtown Wash-
ington D.C. Area. This was very much
appreciated by the residents of the shel-
ter.
Our anniversary service was celebrated
on March 13, and it was an uplifting
experience. The message delivered by
Sis. Cecile White, was well received.
The theme of the worship was
âCommon Unity: What Makes a Com-
munityâ and the gist of the message was
explained both from a biblical and sci-
entific point of view. The speaker also
got the congregation engaged through
open responses. The message was in-
spiring, like a breath of fresh air for the
lungs and the soul. KUDOS Sis Kim!
many thanks. âBlessings abound where
eâer He reignsâ and we can be cer-
tain that the Almighty dwells among us
because we are blessed.

From the Board of Elders
The Board of Elders extends a warm greeting to everyone in the name of Jesus Christ, our risen Lord! As
we move forward in our Church year, we are greatly encouraged by some growth in the spiritual area of our
church. For example, attendance to weekly Bible Study has shown some steady improvement and likewise
members interests have been excited in the topic being studied. We are currently studying the Book of
Genesis and on the very interesting person of Abraham. Our 1st
Saturday Mornings Prayer Breakfast has
also been off to a warm and exciting start in 2016.
As the Board charged with the spiritual affairs of the church, we are happy to share with you two new expe-
riences we hope to lead the congregation in over the next two months. First, we are planning a Sunday in
April when each Elder will meet with his/her Shepherdâs group following worship. Members are encour-
aged to share thoughts and ideas as well as concerns about the church and how we can grow together. Sec-
ondly, we hope to engage members and friends in a one-day fasting experience. We will provide spiritual/
Biblical guidance â from the pulpit ; and hope that this will be of much spiritual blessings to individual as
well as the congregation.
We wish to encourage members and friends of Faith to join us in becoming a more fervent and passionate
witness to our Lord Jesus Christ. Although sometimes it is easy for us to remain in our comfort zones, we
want to encourage everyone to grow and extend ourselves a little more spiritually and otherwise, knowing
that God will sustain us. Submitted by Sis. Jennifer Walker ( Vice Chair)
From the Board of Trustees
As we approach the end of the ďŹrst quarter of this year ; the
Trustees have much to be thankful. The eďŹorts to con nue to
lower our u lity costs and expenses are working. The Way of
the Cross church con nue to rent the Fellowship Hall and the
lower level has been rented by a Learning Center. Renova ons
have already begun in that sec on of the building.
The Trustees are pu'ng together a viable plan to replace all
the windows in the lower level. The church sign should be up
before our anniversary, as we work to obtain the necessary
permits from the city. We have remained commi)ed to mak-
ing our church building a more energy eďŹcient and comforta-
ble place to fellowship. We hope to accomplish much as a
church in 2016. Submi ed by: Sis. Jacqueline Jackson

There is a critical need to invest in our youth in these forma-
tive years, to bring them up in the way they should go so that
when they are old they will not depart from it.
We were able to do some mission work by visiting Graceham
Moravian Church in Thurmont, MD on Saturday March 19th
to participate in a Community Meal by assisting them in serv-
ing and waiting tables at this meal. Other events planned for
the youth include a Talent Night, DC tour of museums and
landmarks, also a Memorial Day Picnic at Camp Hope in NJ.
Every first Friday is dedicated to an interactive Bible Study.
The remaining Fridays we open with devotions and then pro-
ceed to the scheduled activity for that evening. During the
month of February, we were honored to have Bro. Lawson
Wellington ESQ, a member of the congregation, speak to our
young people focusing on the importance of education and
encouraging them to read as much as possible, emphasizing
that "Readers are Leaders". We encourage anyone from the
congregation who may have a desire to share with the youth
some of their life experiences, work ethics, or an encouraging
pep talk that could help to build up our youth to let us know
and we will include you in our schedule.
We have several fundraisers coming up in the near future to
help in defraying some of the costs of the planned activities.
We had a black cake sale at Christmastime and a Black His-
tory bracelet sale in February and both went over very well.
We are also planning a school supply drive in July-Aug
before the start of the next school year. We sincerely ask for
your cooperation as we do these fundraisers and projects.
This year the Youth Ministry Weekend will be held here at
Faith Moravian in October on the Columbus Day Holiday
weekend. We will be seeking your support as needed and
we will keep you abreast of plans as the time approaches.
We extend our sincerest thanks to all the members and
friends of the congregation and especially to those who so
willingly continue to support the Youth Ministry. It is deep-
ly appreciated.

YOUTH CORNER
As we continue to explore the theme for the year âGrace, Grati-
tude and Generosityâ let us pause for a moment to reflect on
the many blessings that we have and are experiencing. If we
look at the theme from a biblical perspective then applying,
Grace, Gratitude and Generosity to how we carry out steward-
ship should not be so difficult. Psalm 24 begins: The earth is
the Lordâs, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in
it. In the beginning of Genesis, God created everything and put
Adam in the Garden to work and to take care of it. It is clear
that man was created to work and that work is the stewardship
of all of the creation that God has given him. This is the basic
principle of biblical stewardship. God owns everything, we are
simply managers or administrators acting on his behalf. There-
fore, our call to stewardship simply expresses our obedience in
taking care of everything God has placed under our control.
Committing ourselves and our possessions to Godâs service,
shows that we give up the right of control over our property or
ourselves. We might say, as in Deuteronomy 8 :17, âMy pow-
er and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for
me.â But Deuteronomy 8:18 counsels us to think otherwise:
âRemember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the
ability to produce wealth.â
We are able to carry out these tasks because we do it not in our
strength but though the grace that God freely gives. Paul wrote
in his letter in 2 Corinthians 12:9 âMy grace is sufficient for
you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.â Therefore, I
will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the
power of Christ may rest upon me. Just as we have no doubt
about our salvation Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been
saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the
gift of God) we should have no doubt about our Fatherâs ability
to give us the means to carry out His will.
A spirit of gratitude should accompany whatever we do. In 1
Thessalonians 5:18, we are reminded to give thanks in all cir-
cumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
There it is! It is Godâs will for us to be thankful and if we are
not, we would not be doing his will. In case we forget or be-
come distracted, we can take assurance in Godâs love. As out-
lined in Psalm 136:1 âGive thanks to the LLMN, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever.â
The promise of reward is attached to our generous giving. This
is not just giving money but applies to time, talent and other
resources that we are blessed with. In Colossians 3:23-24 Paul
writes: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you
will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the
Lord Christ you are serving. So, our stewardship should be
carried out with gratitude, as we recognize that our Father in
Heaven has provided us with the grace we need to be generous
to His children that we encounter every day.

Christian Education Corner
Christian Education covers many aspects of the church life. As we move forward with our Journey of the Tribes; the
Christian Education Committee helped to revamp the list so that the young members will remain with their families
and contribute through the presentations. We will be examining the exciting lives of five Judges this year. In Febru-
ary the Christian Education Committee put together a Black History Presentation, involving varying groups from
the congregation. The young people were an integral part of the presentation.
In a few months our Baccalaureate service will take place. We know our congregation will embrace our graduates
for reaching such an important milestone.
