JAISALMER: Along with 'smart fencing' at the Indo-Pak border in Rajasthan, CCTV cameras are being installed to check intrusions. At some places in Kishangarh in eastern Jaisalmer, cobra wires with electric current running through them have been used. To make the entire border area high tech, local methods are being used to stop intrusions.
At almost every BOP (border outpost) in Jaisalmer sector north, two CCTV cameras have been installed.
In addition to that, LOROS (Long Range Reconnaissance and Observation System) and HHTI (Hand Held Thermal Imager) have also been deployed at the BOPs.
BSF sector north DIG Amit Lohda said as per the directions of BSF DG, KK Sharma, efforts are being made to the make the border impregnable with 'smart fencing'. Two CCTV cameras each will be put at border out posts in all battalions in Jaisalmer north.
During their border visits, many senior officers and parliamentary committee members noted that due to changed circumstances at the international border it was necessary to have high tech security equipment at the borders. Trial of the equipment has started from Jaisalmer sector north. To keep the country's borders safe, CCTV cameras, LOROS and HHTI technologies are being used for the first time. If the equipment is successful at in Rajasthan, this will be installed at entire country's international border.
With CCTV cameras, activities at the border can be seen from control rooms and jawans' work efficiency will improve. The cameras at the border will be connected with internet and senior officers in Jaisalmer and Delhi can review the security arrangements at the borders. Sources said that to stop intrusion, early warning systems like trip layers and jingle bells were put earlier.
