BHOPAL: Swanky cars were queued up at the
Income Tax office at
Hoshangabad Road while senior officers worked overtime well past midnight on Friday as the deadline for declaration of undisclosed income ended.
At least 5,000 people disclosed their incomes on a single day in
Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh region on September 30 under the income disclosure scheme, 2016, said an official of the IT department.
There was a rush till 9 pm and gradually the numbers dropped. Still, some turned up at the eleventh hour. "The response has been above expectations. People queued up till late night for making declarations," principal chief commissioner of I-T, MP & CG, Abrar Ahmad told TOI.
