Surgical strikes were long overdue, say Ludhianvis
Ludhiana: After the Indian Army conducted surgical strikes on terror launch pads across the LoC on Wednesday night, many residents were more than happy seeing the Indian army respond in kind to terror from across the border.
Falak Verma from Model Town said: "India did a great job and took a great step. It was a much needed move and an appropriate answer had to be given to Pakistan.
But the action should not be hyped, nor should there be celebrations as this would only provoke the enemies and risk our army personnel at the borders. Our jawans have their families back home and we need to think about them too."
Dr Bakhshish Banga from Chandigarh Road said: "This step should have been taken long ago. We are definitely not in favour of war, but it was necessary to stop more infiltrations. It was also necessary to convey the message that the Indian army would not keep silent in the face of state-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan."
Rahul Jain, a businessman from Sherpur Chowk, said: "I am very neutral about what has been done. I am now more concerned about people who have to leave their villages, and especially farmers whose crops were getting ready for the harvest."
Tarsem Singh, a city-based businessman from BRS Nagar, said: "A very positive step has been taken by the Indian Army, which should have been taken long ago when the attack happened in Mumbai or at Gurdaspur." Puneet Bhatia, another city-based businessman, said: "I totally salute the action of the Indian troops in going across the LoC and conducting a surgical strike. Pakistan should be shunned by all countries now, not only in trade platforms but on all platforms, so that they get the message that the world wants to live in peace."
