Natalie Portman, Kate Moss and Jennifer Lawrence dazzle at Dior

The stars finally came out to play Friday at Paris fashion week. And for good reason: Maria Grazia Chiuri, formerly half of the beloved design duo at Valentino, debuted her first collection for Dior, and no runway show during fashion month was more highly anticipated than hers.

Sitting front row, Kate Moss rocked model-off-duty cool in oversize denim while Jennifer Lawrence opted for logo dressing in a bra (on full display under a sheer black top) emblazoned with “Christian Dior” on the straps. Natalie Portman looked chic in a black, fall-appropriate coat, while Marion Cotillard’s exaggerated white sweater was a sartorial win.

Rounding out the glitterati was Rihanna, fresh off her runway Fenty x Puma debut in the City of Light. Her spangled frock shined bright like a diamond, but didn’t overpower Chiuri’s runway spectacular.

In a show that was composed primarily of black-and-white threads, the first-ever female designer for the storied house served up a medley of sporty (knee-high sneakers and buckled leather jackets), street (logo tops and T-shirts declaring “We should all be feminists”), and romance (there was an endless amount of sheer, tulle gowns we’d like to get our hands on).

Given the equally varied personalities of her starry front row, it’s safe to say there is something red-carpet (or real-life) ready for everyone in Chiuri’s empowering first collection.
