Mohamed Sanu says shoulder won't hold him back against Panthers

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu won't let a shoulder injury suffered in Monday night's game against New Orleans keep him from playing against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Sanu was limited all week and had a no-contact black jersey on Friday. But Falcons coach Dan Quinn said everyone except linebackers De'Vondre Campbell (ankle) and Paul Worrilow (groin surgery) have been ruled out for the game.

"Ain't nothing going to hold me back," said Sanu, held out of the second half against the Saints. " ... It is what it is. I'm good. Just something weird happened. I stiff-armed someone. And I don't know what happened after that."

Sanu has 11 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown this season.

The Falcons' top three receivers all showed up on the injury report this week. Julio Jones was limited earlier in the week by a calf injury but insisted he's not injured. Jones was full-go on Friday. Justin Hardy was limited by a shoulder for the second straight week just as a precaution but is set to play, too.

Meanwhile, running back Devonta Freeman returned to full practice Friday off an illness, while tag-team partner Tevin Coleman was back at full practice after being limited by an ankle. And quarterback Matt Ryan is full go, as expected, after banging his left thumb. So, the offense is at full strength as the Falcons prepare to face a tough Panthers defense.

Sanu has plenty of respect for the Carolina secondary, even with Josh Norman no longer a part of it.

"They have some good players; very active," Sanu said. "They do their jobs. They're always in position. We just have to make the tough plays."

Falcons coach Dan Quinn singled out Panthers rookie cornerback James Bradberry from Samford, Norman's replacement.

"He's played well, he really has," Quinn said. "He's earned our respect in just a short time. He challenges. He uses his length. I think he's got really good ball skills. We really did our work on him when he was coming out of Samford, so he's a guy that we've known about."
