A day after, a ward boy with the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was allegedly assaulted by relatives of a patient, the city police chief Amitesh Kumar, on request by the GMCH staffers, has issued directives asking for an increased vigilance at the GMCH premises.

On Thursday, the services at the GMCH took a brief halt in protest of the alleged assault of class-IV staffer at the trauma centre.
AURANGABAD: A day after, a ward boy with the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was allegedly assaulted by relatives of a patient, the city police chief Amitesh Kumar, on request by the GMCH staffers, has issued directives asking for an increased vigilance at the GMCH premises.
On Thursday, the services at the GMCH took a brief halt in protest of the alleged assault of class-IV staffer at the trauma centre.
The news of the incident spread like a wildfire in the hospital and over 700 nursing staffers took to the street and resorted to flash strike. The staffers resumed their work only after the police intervened and registered an offence against the relatives of the patient.
Till later Thursday, some of the suspects were rounded up and on Friday were produced before the local court here. According to details Sajeda Begum Iliyas Syed (50, Jahangir Colony) was admitted to the hospital after she met with an accident and sustained a head injury recently. The woman relative of the suspects reportedly got hurt after the class-IV staffer carelessly tried changing her bedsheet. The woman on Friday reportedly succumbed to the injuries.
