Biharsharif: The Patna high court on Friday granted bail to Nawada MLA Rajballabh Yadav in the Nalanda minor's rape case. Earlier in the day, the rape survivor's deposition in the court of additional district and sessions judge (ADJ) Shashi Bhushan Prasad Singh concluded. The day-to-day hearing in the case had started on September 15 after the police filed chargesheet against the suspended RJD legislator and his five accomplices, including four women, under relevant sections of IPC, POCSO and Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
The designated court had rejected the bail pleas of Rajballabh and his accomplices in May.
The MLA is accused of raping a minor girl from Nalanda at his English Pathra Nawada village residence on February 6 this year.
His accomplices, including Radha Devi, her daughter Sulekha Devi, Sulekha's daughter Choti Kumari, Choti's husband Pushpanjay and Tusi Kumari, a cousin of Sulekha, had allegedly taken the survivor from Biharsharif to Rajballabh's residence on the pretext of a birthday party. Rajballabh allegedly raped her at his residence that day.
