Department of Horticulture Friday organized two day district level Kissan mela and fruit show here at fruit Mandi Paryote.The camp has been organised under Mission for integrated development Horticulture (MIDH) 2016-17.Minister for Rural Development Department, Abdul Haq Khan inaugurated the Kissan mela in presence of MLA Doda Shakti Parihar, MLA Bhaderwah Dalip Parihar, MLCs Firdoos Tak and Sham Lal Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Doda Bhupinder Kumar and Director Horticulture Jammu Bhawani Rakwal.Over 60 progressive orchardists from various blocks of the district participated in the event. The farmers and orchardists appreciated the establishment of fruit mandi at Paryote and expressed hope that they will get appropriate rates for their produce.More than 80 samples of different kinds of fruit crops like walnut, apple, pear, citrus, kiwi, Quince and other rare fruits were displayed in the show.  

 The Minister inspected the fruit exhibits and appreciated the efforts of horticulture Department. Horticulture pass books for orchardists were also released at the event.Director Horticulture Jammu during his welcome address apprised the guests about achievements of the department in district Doda.The orchardists from various blocks of Doda district interacted with the scientists of KVK and RHRS Bhaderwah. Scientists provided expertise to the orchardists regarding the different pathological/ entomological problems of fruit crop in the field.Officers of the Horticulture department viz Bipin Pandita Chief Horticulture officer Doda, Sajad Mustaffa DHO Doda, Sandeep Sharma Distt SMS, K S Sodhi MCC Bhaderwah and horticulture dev officer also interacted with the participants.Cash Prizes were also awarded to the best fruit exhibits of different kinds adjudged by the judging committee in kissan mela. Best fruit of the show was awarded Rs 1000.
