Prime Accused In Park Street Gang Rape Case Arrested After Nearly Five Years

Park Street Gang Rape Case Prime Accused Arrested

Kader Khan, the prime accused in Park Street Gangrape case, was arrested by the joint team of Kolkata Police and Delhi Police in Delhi. He is now being brought to Kolkata. According to the reports, Khan had absconded to Dubai after the incident. Latterly, Kolkata police received information that Khan has settled back in the country and was living in Ghaziabad in a rented apartment under a fictitious name.

After putting him under surveillance, a joint team of Delhi and Kolkata police raided his apartment in Ghaziabad and arrested him on Thursday night. The police is interrogating him to track down people who helped him hide for four-and-a-half years as reported by The Hindustan Times.

Suzette Jordan was 37 years old and a mother of two; she was gang-raped on the night of February 5, 2012 by five men. They offered to drop her home from a night club at Kolkata’s posh Park Street area. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called it a “sajano ghatana” or made-up case after Suzette had filed her complaint with the police, a few days later. Damyanti Sen, a senior police officer, pursued the case and identified the five accused. She was later shunted out from the post.
Three of the five accused were arrested and two others including the main accused absconded.


The City Sessions Court convicted the accused person on December 10, 2015 and sentenced them to 10 years of severe imprisonment. The family and supporters of Suzette Jordan are elated with the arrest of the accused. Unfortunately, the survivor of Park Street rape case passed away in March 2015 at the age of 50. She died of Meningitis. She couldn’t live to witness justice prevailed.
