SIGNING OF MOU WITH EGYPT

CHANDIGARH: Modern Pentathalon, an olympic sport which includes Running, Swimming , Fencing , Laser Gun Shooting and Horse Back riding described as a modern sport that relies and stresses on the value of Consistency and the olympic values of friendship, respect and excellence.
It not only hones and builds up the strength of body but also mind and will of the sports personnel
which helps to create an overall developed sportsman and human being.
Baron Pierre De Coubertin developed and advocated the sport which is now one of the 25 core sports of
the Olympic Programme and has been into the programme since 1912 .
Egypt is among the top five nations in modern Pentathalon.
An MOu was signed between the Modern Pentathlon Federation of India(MPFI) and Egyptian Modern
Pentathlon Federation(EMPF) on September 27 at Karnal. It stressed upon sharing and developing the
facilities of sports in context to sharing of technical & IT support. It was also decided that talent
should be drawn from rural part of the country.
There will also be an exchange programme of athletes and coaches for which the initiation has already started.
