JAIPUR: The Jaipur Municipal Corporation's (JMC) long-pending general body meeting (GBM) is expected to be held on October 17.
In this meeting , three proposals will be tabled for the approval. Out of three, two proposals will be tabled for administrative and financial approval of tenders.
According to sources, a proposal for excursion of councillors to other cities such as Ahmedabad, Chennai and Bengaluru has been included in the agenda.

"The councillors will visit different cities to learn the revenue generation system, building plan approval, tax collection system, cleaning pattern, etc. The councillors will prepare and submit a report to improve the JMC's existing system," added source.
He added, "Many important issues for streetlights and other development works are not included in the agenda of the meeting."
The meeting will be called after four and half months. It is called after the Congress councillors threatened to approach the high court to invoke the GBM.
Despite chief minister Vasundhara Raje's directions to hold the GBM, the chief of civic body has failed to call the same on time in the past. Under the Rajasthan Municipality Act 2009, it is mandatory to call a GBM in 60 days. But JMC's 5th board has conducted only six meetings during its 21-month tenure.

Councillors alleged that many public works were affected though the JMC had approved a budget of Rs 1,367 crore and Rs 65 lakh for the 2016-2017 financial year. Out of this, Rs 501 crore was earmarked for development works in the city.
"It's an eyewash. The GBM has been called after do long still no development agendas are included. In the absence important agendas, many works such as sanitation, road repairs, light maintenance are pending," said councillor.
"As per rules, 10 meetings should have been called in 21 months. Several projects have been hampered as meetings were not called on time," said a BJP councillor.
