An Emirati man allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted a shepherd for refusing to give him sheep from the former's mother's farm, the Court of First Instance was told on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old unemployed Emirati was accused together with two Pakistani farm workers - aged 21 and 24 - who kidnapped the shepherd from his room and took him to a desert where the first accused sexually assaulted him.
The defendants were charged with kidnap, sexual assault and trespass.
The victim, a 30-year-old Pakistani shepherd, said that the main accused, his sponsor's son, approached him about ten days prior to the incident for 10 sheep from his mother's farm. "He insisted on getting the sheep but I would not give him any because they are owned by his mother for whom I worked," the shepherd said.
At around 1:30 am on March 4 and while he was sleeping in the driver's room in his sponsor's villa in Al Aweer, he was surprised by the three men barging into his room.
"They physically assaulted me. The first accused put a knife on my neck while another tied me up with a rope and the other stood guard at the door," he said. He was dragged into the Emirati's car trunk and later made to sit in the back seat with the other two men.
He was driven to a desert location where his clothes were taken off and he was sexually assaulted, he told the prosecutor.
Once done, the sponsor's son asked the shepherd whether he would give him a sheep.
"He drove to the farm where I gave him a sheep. I slaughtered and chopped it. He then barbecued it for dinner," he said.
The shepherd added, "He threatened to kill a member of my family and eat him if I reported him to anybody."
The shepherd ran away when the men were sleeping. He informed the sponsor's other son and the latter then took him to Lehbab police station to file a complaint.
He told the police he was injured and left with bruises after he was hit with a knife on the face and kicked on the back.
He said he could not run away from them when they kidnapped him because as soon as he was taken out of the car he was tied up with the main defendant's spare clothes.
He said the place was dark where he was assaulted.
"We arrested the sponsor's son few days after the incident was reported in a desert area in Lehbab. He was escaping the police after what he did. He denied the shepherd's accusations and would not give a blood sample for test," a police lieutenant said.
The victim was found to have been sexually assaulted, as per the forensic examination report.
