The most notable penalty to come from NASCAR on Thursday was the expected one against John Hunter Nemechek and the No. 8 NEMCO Motorsports team in the Camping World Truck Series.

Nemechek failed post-race height inspection following the Chase for the Championship opener at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. NASCAR docked the team 10 driver and owner points, which dropped him from fourth to seventh -- and five points out of a transfer position into the second round.

Crew chief Gere Kennon was also fined $6,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through the end of the season. NEMCO has not yet decided whether it will appeal.

No major penalties were doled out in the Sprint Cup Series, but the No. 4 team of Kevin Harvick, No. 5 of Kasey Kahne, No. 7 of Regan Smith, No. 16 of Greg Biffle and No. 83 of Matt DiBenedetto each received written warnings after failing the pre-qualifying Laser Inspection Station inspection twice.
