New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University is soon going to establish a school of management and entrepreneurship. The university is popular because of its social science and language courses, though it has programmes in sciences and other areas as well.
The setting up of this school was revealed at a conference on economic empowerment through entrepreneurship on Thursday.
The conference was organised jointly by JNU, Confederation of Indian Industries and Dalit Indian Chamber of Commerce, where the vice-chancellor, M Jagadesh Kumar, spoke about plans for the new school in his address.
“A school of management in JNU will benefit the society in general and the aspirants from underprivileged background in particular as they get access to education and skills on international standards,” said Kumar.
Speaking on the occasion, D K Sundar, CEO of Tata Chemicals, said that it is time for affirmative action to give equal opportunity to the weaker section of the society after which there would be holistic economic development.
