Katie Ledecky, Final Five, USA sitting volleyball recognized at Team USA Awards

Team USA, assemble!

Hundreds of members of the 2016 U.S. Olympic team converged on the nation's capital and crowded into Georgetown University's McDonough Arena on Wednesday night for the Team USA Awards, which celebrated the U.S. dominance at the Rio Olympics.

The athletes received their Olympic rings, shown off here by Olympic swimming gold medalists Abbey Weitzeil, Kathleen Baker and Dana Vollmer.

Some individual members of Team USA also received recognition for their outstanding performances in Rio. The awards were determined by a combination of fan voting and a panel of journalists from the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Katie Ledecky, who won four gold medals in Rio, was named Team USA female athlete of the Games.

Gymnastics' Final Five was named Team of the Olympic Games.

And the women's sitting volleyball team, which was the first U.S. team to win a gold medal in the sport, was named Team of the Paralympic Games. Here are some players posing with all-around gymnastics champion Simone Biles.

The athletes followed up the Wednesday night festivities with a Thursday morning tour of the White House and a meeting with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama on the White House lawn.
