GWALIOR: The two-day state executive committee meeting of BJP concluded on Thursday with a resolution to celebrate the year as `Garib Kalyan Varsh' (poor welfare year). However, apart from main programmes to be discussed in the meeting, issues related to police brutality on RSS worker and indiscipline of party leaders overshadowed the main agenda. The meeting though, discussed development issues and welfare schemes of the state and central governments, party state chief Nandkumar Singh Chauhan exhorted the workers to take up a social cause while observing the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and Garib Kalyan Varsh.

''Every worker and leader in the party should initiate a social welfare programme to mark the poverty elevation programme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We need to focus on pro-people agenda and implement it in two year to accomplish our Mission 2018'', said Nandkumar while addressing the workers on Thursday. It was party's national vice-president Ramlal who stressed on the performance and attitude of the workers. Ramlal also called upon the leaders not to ignore the basic needs of common man. He said many political parties have claimed to prepare pro-poor agenda but that proved a political stunt.
''BJP through Pandit Deendayal's ideology, has conceptualised pro-poor policies and implementing them too. We are focusing on welfare schemes for the most common people and every policy will be result oriented'', said Ramlal while addressing party workers in the convention. Amid discontentment over prime issues, party stalwarts also cautioned workers to follow party discipline and said internal discipline is very important for a political group and we being the largest party in the world, will have to set example. BJP also decided that party will chalk out a series of programmes to implement poverty elevation agenda and celebrate 11 years of chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in power.
''We will launch public welfare scheme and publicise the schemes initiated by BJP government in the public to make them aware of the decisions taken by us'', said Nandkumar Singh. The state BJP head also called upon the party workers to dedicate time for the party and focus on coming two years, before assembly elections 2018, for implementation of ambitious schemes.
