Unmukt Chand to lead Delhi in first two Ranji Trophy matches

Unmukt Chand will lead Delhi in the first two Ranji Trophy games this season after regular skipper Gautam Gambhir was recalled to the Indian team for the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.

Unmukt Chand will lead Delhi in the first two Ranji Trophy games this season after regular skipper Gautam Gambhir was recalled to the Indian team for the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Delhi Ranji Trophy Selection Committee today which was attended by three selectors Nikhil Chopra, Atul Wasan, Robin Singh Junior besides state coach Bhaskar Pillai and meeting convenor DDCA Vice President Chetan Chauhan.

Gambhir and Virat Kohli were announced as skipper and vice-captain of the team, respectively, but since both are not unavailable, selectors zeroed in on Chand.

Delhi play their first two Ranji games against Assam (in Baroda) and Maharashtra (in Mumbai) starting October 6. Amit Bhandari will be the assistant coach of the team.
