Professor at NIT Allahabad cuts mics of comedians for talking about sex

The trio shared their outrageous experience on their Facebook page.

Allahabad: It’s no secret that sex has always been a hush hush affair in our country, and while gruesome sexual crimes and lack of awareness about sexuality are plaguing the country, talking about the subject is still mostly a taboo.

This reluctance or outright aversion towards any discussion on sexuality or sex education was experienced first hand by stand up comedians Varun Grover and Sanjay Rajora along with musician Rahul Ram, at a college event.

The trio were on stage at the Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology in Allahbad, and as soon as they started talking about sex education, their mics were cut by a professor.

Even as the group tried to carry on, their manager came on stage and broke it to them that they were asked to leave. Finally Rahul Ram told the audience, “Your professors don’t want us to continue. You guys were fantastic but unfortunately this ends here.”

The group shared their experience with the “Sanskaari brigade” on the Facebook page and people also responded with outrage on the social media.

While the debate about sex education in India is a crucial one, such steps against breaking the taboo at an educational institution do little to help.
