Indian shares retreat after India attacks militants in Pakistan

MUMBAI (NewsRise) - Indian shares posted their worst single-session decline in over three months Thursday after India's attack on suspected terror bases in Pakistan fuelled tension between the two nuclear-capable neighbors.

The Indian army carried out "surgical strikes" on suspected terrorist camps along the military control line between Indian and Pakistani-controlled parts of Kashmir on Wednesday night, director general of military operation Lieutenant General Ranbir Singh said in New Delhi. The move comes 10 days after an attack on an Indian army base in disputed Kashmir killed 18 soldiers.
