Kadam for amendment to Atrocities Act
minister Ramdas Kadam

AURANGABAD: Senior Shiv Sena leader and city's guardian minister Ramdas Kadam on Wednesday supported the Maratha community's demands and said that they should get reservations in jobs and education
"The Maratha community is subjected to injustice and that the community should get reservations in jobs and education," said Ramdas Kadam, Aurangabad guardian minister.
The minister made this statement at the backdrop of Maratha community morchas that are being carried out in different parts of the state.
The morchas, which have recieved overwhelming and unprecedented response, demand the repeal of the atrocities act apart from reservation for the community.
He added, "I also belong to the Maratha community but do not favour the complete repeal of the Atrocities Act. Although I'm in favour of making amendments to the act to avoid its misuse on a larger scale." He further stated that the provisions of the acts were being misused to settle even smaller scores and it should be amended with provisions to prosecute those who misuse this act. He, however, refused to comment on the stone pelting incident at 'Saamna's' office in Mumbai and said, "I will take about it when the time is right." tnn
