The Doha Youth Choir will host graduates of the famous Berlin State Opera Children's Chorus The Junges Consortium.
Part-funded by the German Goethe Institute, The Junges Consortium will arrive in Doha this week and spend five nights in the Qatari capital. The group will be hosted by Doha Youth Choir's own choir families.
The Junges Consortium Berlin will perform their only public concert at the German International School Doha at Al Mamoura, close to Quality Mall, on Saturday, October 1 at 7 pm.
The concert will also feature Doha Youth and Junior Choirs and is generously supported by KLM, Yamaha Fifty One East and the Radisson Blu Hotel Doha.
Tickets from QR50 will be available at the door and QR65 VIP tickets can be reserved by calling 5072 0445 or by visiting their website www.dohayouthchoir.com.
The Junges Consortium Berlin was founded by Vinzenz Weissenburger for these young singers, who having outgrown the Children's Chorus at the Berlin Opera, and who together have won many choir prizes and awards, wanted to continue singing to this higher level.
Under Weissenburger's direction they have developed a great new sonority with ambitious choral programmes. They have undertaken tours to many different countries including France, Luxembourg, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Vietnam and China and Qatar will soon be added to the list.
The Berliners will also visit some of Doha schools with lively choral programmes giving workshops and short performances, while also indulging in sight-seeing.
