The OP Pohjola Financial Group has quit the Federation of Finnish Financial Services (Finance Finland, FFI) and applied to join the service sector employers' association Palta.

The OP said that it will continue separate payment agreements with FFI, including joint lobbying with the European Union. OP also said it will continue to be a member of the Confederation of

Finnish Industries (EK) through Palta. At the same time OP is planning to strengthen lobbying.

The FFI said in a statement that it has, together with its members, the best expertise to promote the interests of the financial sector in the EU. The FFI statement was signed by its chair of the board Risto Tornivaara and vice chairmen Ari Kaperi and Erkki Moisander.

“Full-scale and wide-ranging financial sector lobbying for a single operator, however, will require a considerable amount [of resources],” the FFI said in the statement.
