The students had challenged the orders of the Appellate Authority of JNU — which had upheld the disciplinary action against them — on the grounds that they had not been given a proper hearing.

The counsel appearing for JNU told the court of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva that the students had been given “adequate time” — nearly three hours — to consider the documents during the disciplinary hearing against them. The University has also said that it will not implement the punishments till court orders.

The bench said it will pass its order on the next date of hearing.
