Police now believe a man found dead in a parking garage in Mississauga was stabbed on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 1:15 p.m. in the Grand Park Drive and Burnhamthorpe Road area at a residential building.

Peel Regional Police initially posted on Twitter saying they were on the scene with an injured person in that area, but later confirmed the victim was dead when they arrived.

A police source told CTV Toronto that there is video surveillance of a scuffle that took place in the building’s parking garage. The man and his assailant can be seen fighting and then they step off camera for a few moments.

When the victim reappears, he collapses.

A building resident told CTV Toronto that his brother saw police tape and a large amount of blood in the garage.

The identity of the victim was not publicly released. Police believe the victim is between 30 and 35 years old and is not a resident of the building.

A mobile command centre was set up in the area for witnesses while forensic officers combed the crime scene for evidence.
