Una, September 28

Activists of the Jan Hit Morcha, a voluntary youth organisation, yesterday immersed the ashes of 10 unidentified bodies in the Ganga at Haridwar. These bodies were cremated by them at the Una crematorium after the completion of all legal formalities.

After returning from Haridwar today, morcha president Rajiv Bhanot said for the last seven years, unclaimed and unidentified bodies, recovered by the Una police from all parts of the district, were brought to the Una district hospital for a postmortem. He said the activists, with the help of local philanthropists, contributed for the cremation of the bodies.

Bhanot said the ashes were stored in a room at the crematorium and after about six months, these were immersed in the Sutlej in Una district or in the Ganga at Haridwar. He said the religious rites were also performed for the departed souls at Haridwar.
