BENGALURU: Following the petition filed by the Karnataka School Parents’ Association seeking regulation in the hike of fee by private schools, the High Court on Wednesday ordered notices to the CBSE, ICSE, state and the central government.
The petitioner association pleaded that every year, private schools are arbitrarily hiking fees up to 25 per cent and sought a mechanism to regulate fee hikes.
Tweet PM: The High Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the petition filed by Leesha, who sustained injuries in the bomb blast at the BJP office in Malleswaram on April 17, 2013. She had sought directions to frame a national policy of compensation for victims of terror attacks.
Citing arguments over schemes by the state government such as ‘Bhagyalakshmi’ and Centre’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ and why not such schemes be also implemented in cases like these, the court observed that such arguments could be mentioned using Twitter bringing it to the notice of the Prime Minister.
The petitioner has sought Rs 1 crore compensation taking into account her young age and meritorious academic record. The Centre has submitted to the court that the maximum compensation given by the central government to victims of terrorists attack is Rs 3 lakh.
