Civil Aviation bans lantern
The Civil Aviation Department has imposed a ban on the use of lantern or wish kites within a radius of two kilometers from the Civil Aerodrome, Pinjore. A spokesman of the department said during the festival season, the airport operators faced problems due to the use of lantern or wish kites, especially during landing and takeoff by the aircrafts. More staff for women police stations
The state government has sanctioned 1,724 posts of different categories for the 21 women police stations. Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said these included 20 posts of inspector, 129 posts of sub inspector, 250 posts of assistant sub inspector, 396 posts of head constables, 786 posts of constables and 143 posts of Class-IV staff. Strike prohibited
The state government has prohibited strike of employees of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department under the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), for a period of six months with immediate effect. Panel formed to probe gate collapse
Ashwani Maingi, Commissioner of the Sonepat Municipal Corporation, has constituted a three-member committee to probe the collapse of the iron gate at the main entrance to a ‘nandishala’ at Harsana village on the night of September 25. One security guard was killed and another injured in the incident. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three months, Maingi said. OC
Liquor boxes seized
A team of CM’s flying squad and the Taxation and Excise Department raided a plot near Jharonth village on the Sonepat-Kharkhoda road on Tuesday. In all, 2,205 boxes of liquor — 1,494 boxes of IMFL, 363 boxes of beer and 348 boxes of country-made liquor — were seized. The team also seized Rs 3.30 lakh from the spot. A case has been registered. Int’l book fest in Dec
The Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) will host an international book festival in December here. Deputy Commissioner Sumedha Kataria said at a meeting here on Wednesday that more than 20 committees had been formed for Gita Jayanti celebrations.
