VKSU) administration has sent a special emissary with a proposal and formal request to the
Raj Bhavan to reintroduce
Bhojpuri at the honours level in its constituent colleges and post-graduate level.
The university has also sent a letter to the director, higher education.
VKSU VC Leela Chand Saha told TOI on Wednesday, "We have followed all norms prescribed for seeking approval to reintroduce Bhojpuri as a subject at the honours level. A resolution was passed by the academic council on September 21 and the Syndicate too passed it on September 24. We have now sent a special messenger to the Raj Bhavan with the draft ordinance, exam regulation and syllabus. We have also requested for sanctioning one post for a professor, two posts for readers, four posts for lecturers and four each for Grade III and IV employees for the PG department. A request has also been sent to sanction four posts of lecturers at the honours level. We have also proposed a budget of Rs 71 lakh for teaching Bhojpuri at the PG level. Four colleges--Jain College, Ara, Jagjiwan College, Ara, DK College, Dumraon and SP College, Sasaram have sent proposals to the university to start teaching of Bhojpuri at the honours level."
