Uttarakhand CM apprises President of measures taken to carry out reconstruction work at Kedarnath

Dehradun:Chief Minister Harish Rawat who accompanied President Pranab Mukherjee to the world famous Kedarnath shrine along with governor K.K. Paul, early Wednesday, apprised him about a series of measures taken by state government to carry out reconstruction activities like re-building roads, pedestrian treks, bridges and restoration of communication network during the last over two years after 2013's mid-June deluge in Rudraprayag district.

Senior officials who were present in the shrine at the time of President's visit, told reporters that CM Rawat had also briefed President Mukherjee how reconstruction activities completed expeditiously in the area helped bring back glory of the shrine and infuse confidence among about 12 lakh pilgrims from across the country to come back to Kedarnath and three other shrines-Badrinath,Gangotri and Yamnotri apart from Hemkund Saheb to take Darshana and offer their prayers three years after the tragedy. "As we could provide better facilities for stay and meals to the maximum number of devotees on way to Kedarnath and in the shrine area, about 12 lakh pilgrims managed to reach chardham shrines and Hemkund Saheb Gurudwara shrine ", explained Rawat to the President.
Apprising President Mukherjee how despite fear psychosis that was persisting among pilgrims after June 16, 2013 contributed not only to brick back devotees but also make their journey easier and more comfortable during the period.
Members of Badrinath-Kedarnath temple committee said Rawat also took President to show the newly built footpaths leading to the shrine in the Kedarnath premises. He explained to the President how they have been made much more comfortable and smoother than before.
Sources said CM Rawat also said how pilgrims are taking much more interest in coming to the shrine than ever before. "I must say this is all because of hardwork we had put in completing all reconstruction work within a stipulated time",added Rawat.
Officials on duty in the shrine said President Mukherjee also appreciated the CM Rawat for doing good job.
