RJio intends to bring disrepute to association: COAI

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Dismissing the allegations levelled by Reliance Jio in connection with interconnection issues among operators, the telecom operators body COAI today accused RJio as intending to bring disrepute to the association.
In a statement, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) Director General Rajan S Mathew said, "COAI is disappointed that Reliance Jio, who is our member has taken internal association matters which can very well be settled within the association into a public forum. We categorically dismiss the allegations and claims of RIL Jio and will be in communication with them to resolve the matter."
Earlier, RJio has threatened to file a case against the association for making alleged surreptitious and defamatory remarks, if they don't apologise.
The statement also said COAI and the Director General, has always acted in full compliance with the constitution and by-laws of the association and have always upheld and complied with all the regulations and rules of the land.
COAI found that the RJio remarks are bald and motivated and said, "We find the allegations of RJIO to be without merit, bald and motivated. They are intended to bring disrepute to the association."
However, the association maintained they are for consumers betterment.
"We remain committed towards advancing the industry position and our members and the consumers remain at the heart of everything we do. COAI remains committed to working towards a stable, long term, enabling policy environment for a fully connected and a digitally empowered India," the statement said.
