Glad rags will be swapped for bright sportswear, hair slicked back, glow sticks waved in the air and dance tunes played as Clubbercise brings a whole new meaning to exercise.

Anyone, over the age of 16, who likes the idea of a work out that feels more like a night out is invited to a free launch class of Clubbercise at Durham County Council’s Shildon-Sunnydale Leisure Centre on Thursday 29 September from 6.00pm.

Burn calories under the disco lights and take part in fun easy to follow dance fitness routines to classic club anthems and current tunes.

All that is needed is a colourful, comfortable outfit and trainers. People are encouraged to bring a bottle of water with them and to arrive at the session fifteen minutes beforehand for the chance to have their face painted, buy or rent glow sticks and to pull their best work out face in a group photo.

Following the Clubbercise class, there will also be free taster sessions of Body Balance, Functional Circuits and Pilates, before the launch party finishes at 9.00pm.

From Monday 3 October, Clubbercise fans will be able to continue their dance workout with weekly sessions on Mondays at Teesdale Leisure Centre, 8.00pm – 8.45pm, Wednesdays at Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex,7.30pm – 8.15pm and Shildon-Sunnydale Leisure centre, 6.45pm – 7.30pm.

The Clubbercise launch class and the first weekly leisure centre classes are free of charge. Gym members can then enjoy the dance fitness craze for free as part of their membership, which starts from £17 a month, and non-members can choose to pay for Clubbercise per session.

To book a free place at the Clubbercise launch party please call 03000 262 797. Alternatively book onto a weekly session by contacting one of the three leisure centres at www.durham.gov.uk/leisurecentres. Please note there will be flashing disco lights throughout Clubbercise classes.
