Hansraj asks NDMA's involvement in Smart City projects at conceptualisation stage

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Minister of State for Home Affairs Hansraj Gangaram Ahir today said the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) should be involved in the Smart Cities project, right from the conceptualisation stage.
NDMA's contribution to the project will help avert disasters such as the urban flooding that recently brought cities like Chennai and Hyderabad to a standstill or disaster due to a major earthquake that had taken place during past, Mr Ahir pointed out.
While inaugurating the NDMA's 12th Formation Day function here, the MoS also called upon the NDMA to involve students from reputed institutes such as the IITs that helped safe evacuation of residents of low lying areas during the recent floods in southern India.
