A day after former Corporate Affairs Director B K Bansal, who was accused in a graft case, committed suicide along with his son, news agency PTI on Wednesday received a copy of a suicide note purportedly written by the tainted senior bureaucrat, alleging that CBI officials pushed his family towards taking the extreme step. The investigation agency constituted an internal probe to verify the allegations. Bansal and his son Yogesh, alleged that a CBI DIG, two women officers and a “fat” Havaldar of the agency had tortured his wife and daughter after which both had committed suicide in July.
In the suicide note, Bansal alleged that the CBI DIG claimed he was close to a politician from the ruling party. The CBI DIG allegedly abused Bansal’s wife over phone and threatened to torture him in jail. The two women officers accompanying the CBI DIG had also allegedly slapped his wife, Bansal claimed. His son Yogesh also claimed that he was forced to commite suicide as he was subjected to “mental and physical torture” at the hands of the CBI officials. “My mother and my sister were against suicide but they were tortured to such an extent that they took the step,” he alleged. Bansal allegedly hanged himself along with his son at their residence, barely two months after his wife and daughter ended their lives following his arrest in the alleged corruption case. He was arrested in July for allegedly accepting a bribe from a pharmaceutical company.
As soon as the news broke, Twitter users have been widely sharing the suicide note, linking a top politician to the suicide case. Supporters of a political party, in particular, have been trying to get the hashtag #CBIUncagedVulture trend on Twitter.
