Mohanlal ambassador for organ donation

Mohanlal ambassador for organ donation

Mohanlal has never shied away from being a part of movements and organisations with a social cause. The latest is organ donation, and the actor will be the goodwill ambassador of 'Mritasanjeevani,' Kerala government's deceased donor organ transplant programme. The Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan himself confirmed this on his facebook page, with a long message. 'Sri. Mohanlal has agreed to be the honorary Goodwill Ambassador of the Mrithasanjeevani programme.
We appreciate his kind gesture. The organ donation programme of the state is being improved so as to make it a model for the rest of the world, through Mrithasanjeevani. The government will provide all the necessary financial and moral support in this effort," he wrote.
The programme was launched in 2012 and has given a fresh lease of life to a large number of people, who suffered from illness related to liver, kidney, heart and pancreas. It goes under the slogan 'Share organs, save lives', and it is learned that the actor volunteered to lend his face for the humanitarian programme after learning about how organ donation from deceased donors can save lives.
