RAJKOT: Over a dozen unidentified persons were booked on Tuesday for ransacking 10 booths of Dari Toll plaza near Veraval late night on Monday. Police is suspecting involvement of relatives of Khambhaliya MLA Meraman Ahir in the attack on the toll plaza. Nobody was hurt in the violence, added police.
According to a complaint filed by the toll plaza supervisor Anil Sharma (37), 15 unidentified men with sticks and iron rods came in 10 cars late Monday evening and without any instigation started ransacking the booths.
They smashed the glass windows of the booths and broke the computer units placed inside the booths. As a result, traffic on the route was affected for over two hours.
Sharma further said that on Sunday evening there was altercation between the toll both staff and some persons in a car with MLA Khambhaliya written on it. The persons in the car had refused to pay toll tax.
Police sub-inspector K I Meghnathi, of Prabhas Patan police station, who is investigating the case said that the complainant suspected some relatives of Khambhaliya MLA Meraman Ahir to be involved in ransacking the toll plaza and destroying the property.
