'Name varsity after Kanaka Dasa'

HUBBALLI: Basavaraj Devaru, seer of Manasuru Revanasiddeshwar mutt, has urged the state government to open an independent university in the name of saint Kanaka Dasa and carry out studies and research on the 16th century saint-poet. If it is not possible to set up a separate university, the government should rename the Karnataka University, Dharwad, or Folklore University, Haveri, after Kanaka Dasa, he said.Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday the seer added he will soon take a delegation to the chief minister to impress him on this matter.
