High court notice over denial of MBBS admissions
AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat high court on Tuesday issued a notice to the Consortium of Self-financed Medical and Dental Colleges and state authorities over a petition filed by four students who were denied admission because they could not produce their original marksheets in very short notice.
According to petitioner-students, after filling forms for medical or dental courses here in the first week of September, they obtained admission in medical courses in Pune and Bengaluru and submitted their original certificates to those colleges.

On September 24 evening, the consortium declared the merit list for private colleges and asked students to appear for admission with original certificates on September 26, Monday. Since the intervening day was Sunday, they could not withdraw original certificates from colleges in Pune and Bengaluru and they had to appear before the consortium without original certificates.
