3 minors detained, 5 burglaries solved
Pune: Love for fast food and a desire for a fun trip to a water park led three minors from Bhosari to indulge in petty thefts. However, they ran out of luck on Monday when the Bhosari police detained them.
Police have recovered gold ornaments, a scooter, a laptop and a camera, collectively worth Rs 3.30 lakh, from them. No cash could be recovered from the trio since they spent all of it on a trip to a water park and satiating their hunger for fast foods like pizza, burger and dosa, police said.
"We recovered the ornaments and other valuables since the minors did not know how to dispose them off," Yogesh Avhad, assistant police inspector of the Bhosari police station, said.

Avhad said police have detected six cases, including five burglaries and a vehicle theft, committed by the trio over the last one month in Bhosari.
Senior inspector of the Bhosari police station Dilip Kulkarni said police intensified their probe after a sudden rise in burglaries in Bhosari. "During the probe, we came to know that the locals had noticed few minor boys in the buildings, where the burglaries had occurred," Kulkarni said.
Meanwhile, police got a tip-off about involvement of three minors in the burglaries. "Before taking them into custody, police kept a watch on their activities. Even though they came from poor families, they were found to be spending huge money on merry making," Kulkarni said.

Once taken into custody for questioning, they spilled the beans. "They admitted their involvement in the burglaries which occurred in Bhosari over the last one month. They also accepted of stealing a vehicle under the jurisdiction of the Kothrud police. We have recovered booty worth Rs 3.30 lakh from them," he said.
Modus of the trio
Assistant inspector Yogesh Avhad said the trio used to break into the flats with the help of an iron rod, which has been recovered. "After identifying a locked flat, two of them used to break the locks while the third one used to keep a watch on other people. If caught, the third suspect would come running and tell them to come home since their mothers were looking for them," Avhad said.
The boys, aged 13 to 15 years, are school drop outs.
