Cops used private vehicle to avoid suspicion

JAIPUR: The entire operation was led by Satish Kumar, SHO, Sadar Police station, Dholpur. "The kidnappers had asked the brother and mother of Sharma to come to the bus stand with a ransom of Rs 6 Lakh. Two kidnappers stayed with Sharma in the jungles of Gajpura while two others came near Badi to call parents to receive the ransom," he added.
The police had already put the phones of the family and criminals under surveillance."The tower location of the kidnapper's mobile was identified in Madhya Pradesh. But we have been dealing with such kidnapping cases and knew that area near Badi and Chambal are hotbeds for the kidnappers, thus we sent a team there too," Kumar added.
Meanwhile, the two criminals who had come to receive the ransom got the wind of police operation in the district. The criminals nearly rammed their getaway vehicle near a checkpoint, but Kumar and his men decided to chase the criminals in a private vehicle. "There was a fear that since these criminals have got the idea of police's searc operation, they might kill Sharma. So we decided to chase them in a private vehicle to avoid the suspicion," cops said.
Near Badi the police arrested the two criminals. "We first took away their phones, and interrogated them. After intense questioning that lasted for several hours, the duo told us that they had hid Sharma in Gajpura. The team reached their and freed Sharma and arrested the remaining two criminals " Kumar said.
As per primary investigation the arrested criminals were habitual offenders. Police suspect that betting could be the reason behind kidnapping. "The four accused were involved in betting and had lost money to somebody called Akshay. They told Akshay that they wish to continue betting. Akshay sent Vishal to collect the money from these criminals. Instead, the four kidnapped Vishal to get ransom from his family," police said.
