Police on toes to nab illegal arms makers, smugglers in eastern Rajasthan

JAIPUR/ALWAR: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, the miscreants involved in manufacturing and smuggling of country-made arms and ammunition are active in eastern Rajasthan. Many villages in Dholpur and Bharatpur districts are seen as bastions of illegal manufacturing of arms.
Thus, police in eastern Rajasthan are on a high alert and collecting information and inputs to raid such factories in coming days to have a complete crackdown on the smugglers involved.

Villages like Rajakhera(Dholpur), Gopalgarh (Bharatpur), Kaman (Bharatpur), Pahari (Bharatpur) and Dholpur have factories involved in illegal manufacturing of country-made arms under the political patronage. Senior police officers in Bharatpur and Dholpur districts have urged every police station in these districts to be vigilant and conduct raids to curb making and smuggling of illegal weapons.
Senior police officers confirmed that they have got inputs that arms smugglers of Rajasthan have got orders to prepare and deliver big haul of country made arms by mid-October.
When contacted, Rajesh Singh, Superintendent of Police, Dholpur, said, "One cannot rule out the involvement of arms smugglers and manufacturers getting active ahead of UP elections. Thus, we have constituted various teams and our search parties are on the job to find out such factories which are running in isolated areas of Chambal ravines. Since our district has borders connecting Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh smuggling of weapons from both sides is a major problem. We had busted five factories in Dholpur in past 18 months.."

"Almost a fortnight ago we had busted a factory in which more than a dozen of arms were seized. During then various machines and equipments used in manufacturing of illegal weapons we also seized. It was found in the investigation that many of these weapons were to be delivered in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh including Agra and Rampur," said a senior officer of Dholpur district on Tuesday. The Mewat region consisting of Alwar, Bharatpur, Dholpur have almost 12 villages where these factories run. "In the past we had raided factories in the villages including Bilakh, Daula Ka Baas, Jurhera, Sesan, Sikar, Gopalgarh, Papara, Jaitaru Allah, Andwari, Ladamkha, Pathrali, Gosiyan, Nyaana, Paalpur," said a senior officer of Bharatpur district.
A senior officer said that at many instances police sent a decoy as customer where the country made pistols were available in Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 from these factories.
