BENGALURU: Private vehicles and cabs entering/exiting the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have to follow a new set of traffic arrangements.
To streamline traffic flow, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has introduced separate routes for vehicles dropping off and picking up passengers. The route for passenger drop-off remains unchanged.
However, vehicles will have to have to take a right to exit from arrival gate number 9 and return to the airport's main access road.
For pick-ups, vehicles will have to head towards arrival gate number 11, cross the P1 and P2 parking areas and take a left towards the arrival gate bay. Then they have to take a right and exit the terminal after crossing the Taj hotel premises. Passengers have to follow the signage installed at KIA.
The changes have been introduced with immediate effect. BIAL officials said they will also notify people of these diversions through the newly launched BLR Airport app.
Apart from about 80,000 cabs which ply to and from KIA every day, BMTC's Vayu Vajra bus service operates on 11 routes, making about 250 trips a day. Hundreds of private cars also visit KIA to drop off/pick up passengers every day.
