A major accident was averted when portion of a train engine's wheel broke near Shridham railway station in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday morning.

Bhopal: A major accident was averted when portion of a train engine's wheel broke near Shridham railway station in Narsinghpur district of Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place near a railway crossing situated 1 kilometre from Shridham railway station when part of engine's rear wheel of 51673 Up Itarsi-Satna passenger broke. Sources said that train driver Ravindra Yadav applied emergency brakes as soon as wheel broke, as he was jolted.

Passengers alighted in a hurry and many of them took road transport to reach their destination because running of trains was affected. It was only late in the afternoon that the train resumed its journey after an engine was sent from Jabalpur, said sources.
Officials of local civic body made drinking water arrangements for train passengers while they were stranded. tnn
