A lucky group of students from Shen Wai International School had the opportunity last weekend to not only witness a concert by the renowned Vienna Boys Choir, but also to join the performance and sing with the choir.

The Vienna Boys Choir performed a concert at the Shenzhen Poly Theater under the baton of maestro Manolo Cagnin as part of their 2016 Asia Tour on September 24.

The concert received a passionate response from the audience. The classical repertoire in the main program consisted of choral works by Vivaldi, Schubert, Rossini, Verdi, Johann Strauss II and many others, while arrangements of traditional Chinese songs were featured following the intermission.

At the end of the concert, the choir performed two encore pieces — “I bin weit herganga” and “Li Ge” (《送别》) — in collaboration with Shen Wai International School’s Grade 2-3 Junior Choir.

Earlier in the week, Cagnin visited Shen Wai International School where he chaired a music workshop and directed an open rehearsal in preparation for Saturday’s concert.
