HYDERABAD: Tollywood is rushing to cash in on gangster Nayeemuddin, who was shot dead by police recently, but the film chamber has rejected the use of ‘Nayeem' as title for the proposed movie. The titles committee of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has also refused to grant permission for the use of ‘Sindhu' in another film. The applicant had submitted an application for the approval of ‘Sindhu Sharma' as title.

"The committee felt it would not be appropriate to approve ‘Nayeem' as the title. In the case of ‘Sindhu Sharma', the applicant will be asked to get permission from Olympics silver medallist badminton player Sindhu as the applicant obviously wants to cash in on her name," a source in the film chamber said.
Though the title ‘Nayeem' has been rejected, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is going ahead with his film, also titled ‘Nayeem', but with a slight difference, ‘Ram Gopal Varma Nayeem'. However, sources said there was no application with the titles committee for even this title. Meanwhile, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma released the title track (song) of the film and introduction about the movie on his twitter account. The movie, he said, will be released in January next.
It may be mentioned here that on August 8 this year, gangster Nayeem, a former Maoist, was shot dead by the Greyhounds forces at Shadnagar in Mahbubnagar district. The filmmaker has claimed that had received threatening calls from Nayeem's gang. "But they need to understand that I am Nayeemon ka Nayeem," he said. RGV also said he had got to know that Nayeem had contacts with a ‘big man' in Karachi, without naming him and expressing "shock" at what he had found out.

While working on Nayeem's film in Mumbai, RGV said he had Nayeem‘s cell mate, five policemen and two former Naxalites, who had worked with the gangster for three years.
It is not uncommon for the filmmaker to hype whatever movie he makes in order to generate interest in it. Interestingly, the title track of ‘Ram Gopal Varma Nayeem', that has been posted on his twitter account was found deleted on Tuesday. "This video is no longer available because the YouTube account associated with this video has been terminated," the notice on the video read.
